Dr. Mikyoung Park is a soprano, musician, educator, and performing artist with more than 35 years of experience in voice teaching and performance in Korea and the United States. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, she holds a Bachelor of Music (BM) and Master of Music (MM) in Voice Performance from Seoul National University, where she also completed three years of advanced opera studies at the Opera Institute. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Voice Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Sacred Music (MSM) in Choral Conducting from Luther Seminary. She recently completed Vocal Teacher Training and Certification in contemporary and musical theater singing styles through New York Vocal Coaching.
As a professional soprano, Dr. Park has performed major operatic roles and repertoire including La Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Bohème, Rigoletto, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Cavalleria Rusticana, Un Ballo in Maschera, and The Magic Flute. Her recorded projects include 사랑을 사자하니 (Yearning for Love) and 파랑새 (Blue Bird), featuring voice and gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument.
In addition to her teaching at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Dr. Park has served as voice faculty at MacPhail Center for Music since 2014 and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). From 2006 to 2014, she served as a Global Music Song Leader Trainer and workshop leader through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), working with musicians and worship leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds. She currently serves as Music Director at Epworth United Methodist Church.
As an educator, Dr. Park believes that voice lessons should nurture more than vocal technique. She strives to create a welcoming environment where students can develop confidence, creativity, and resilience while growing as musicians and individuals.
